POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Director of Data Product leads CVAUSA's data product development, combining team management with direct technical contribution to ensure high-impact, sustainable data solutions. This role transforms business challenges into actionable data products while maintaining deep involvement in implementation. Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, this position focuses on delivery excellence and business partnership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):
Hands-On Product Development - Lead planning and hands-on execution of data product development initiatives
- Develop and execute data product roadmaps aligned with business priorities and overall data strategy
- Own the complete product lifecycle from ideation through deployment, adoption, and ongoing enhancement
- Establish success metrics and directly measure business impact of data products
Team Leadership & Development - Manage and develop a team of data professionals (Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, Data Analyst)
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, business partnership, and continuous improvement
- Coordinate capacity planning and resource allocation to maximize team effectiveness
- Mentor team members in both technical skills and product thinking approaches
- Partner with Data Engineering team to develop and maintain strategic roadmaps for CVAUSA’s data assets
Business Partnership & Requirements - Serve as primary data product advocate to business stakeholders across CVAUSA
- Translate complex business challenges into actionable technical requirements and solutions
- Build strong relationships with Finance, Operations, and clinical teams
- Lead discovery processes to identify high-impact opportunities for data-driven solutions
- Present product impact and adoption metrics to leadership
Technical Environment
CVAUSA leverages a modern data stack designed for scalability and performance:
- Cloud Platform: Azure
- Data Warehouse: Snowflake
- Data Orchestration: Prefect and dbt (data build tool)
- Business Intelligence: Power BI
- Enterprise Reporting – SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
While experience with these specific technologies is preferred, we encourage candidates with strong backgrounds in comparable modern data platforms to apply.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong understanding of healthcare data measures, risk adjustment, and value-based care concepts
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present data concepts to diverse internal stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills for clear articulation of product vision and strategies to stakeholders
- Analytical mindset with the ability to draw insights from data and market research
- Robust understanding of product development methodologies, including Agile and Lean principles
- Proven experience in cross-functional collaboration, enhancing team agility and execution
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or engineering, data science, healthcare administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare and at least 7 years management experience
